Whole Child Happenings is happy to introduce a few of our structured literacy packets that we've been working on. Our goal is to eventually have them available to all families and educators. Included in each is a decodable story scripted by Whole Child Happenings.
Currently we have Roy and the toy boat, The Giant Oak tree, Zelie and the traveling camera, and their perspective adventures.
Each will include an engaging video lesson and coordinating paperworks.
Some examples are detective challenge, remember the rule, search & find, and a coordinating color sketch.
Each finishing w/ an award completion certificate, flashflight discovery find, and color sketch page.
Celebrating Community partners
One of our local elementary schools was the proud choosen recipient of a literacy donation on behalf of
Whole Child Happenings of Baldwin County in the amount of $568.00 in the form of complimentary chapter book bundles for their 2nd grade students to read along as well as a few other goodies including a coordinating number reversal puzzle from Team Snoodleberries Publishing. Thank you Spanish fort elementary school for your warm welcome and allowing us to share with your students the power of perspective and one's internal belief system!​

​ Whole Child Happenings of Baldwin County was created from a simple belief:
childhood deserves room for curiosity, connection, creativity, and meaningful experiences.
We believe children thrive when they are given opportunities to explore, discover, build confidence, and experience the joy of learning in ways that honor the whole child.

In the summer of 2026 we hosted a program offering structured literacy, science, and outdoor recreation for a small group consisting of 10 children in total. It was one of the most beautiful experiences we have had as of yet and look forward to being able to continue offering educational and fun outlets to our local children.
We brought in a staff of helpers who were instrumental in enabling us to offer some additional experiences. Thank you for providing some of your skillsets for our Growth Pod class of children.

All of which has been brought to families at no cost through our non-profit. Currently we've not begun to raise funds for our projects and hope to continue to offer what we can.

We affectionately referred to the summer program as The Growth Pod. We sang our special march song each morning, worked on academic refreshers for the upcoming school year, build projects, made new friendships, played outdoor recreational games, learned about and observed life cycles, and rode the nature bucket train exploring and taking time to stop, listen, and view the world around us.
​
Many memories were made and all the children received a custom Whole Child Happenings learning adventure coin as a keepsake.

_ A dream collection of stories to inspire all young
children to hold on to their curiosity and the importance of perspective. Zelie, Lou, and June June Macaroon go on a discovery adventure with one special camera that Auntie Zeldie lovingly introduced them to. What they each of them discovered was some of the most valuable lessons that they never would have noticed had they not taken the time to notice, wonder, and discover.

At the Growth Pod Academy, we started each day w/a brief literacy lesson followed by various experiments, art lessons, motor movement exercises and meditations, as well as plenty of fresh air and outdoor recreational outlets. One of the tools we tried out was the pro scanner pens which were a big hit w/ the children. They all had some pretty good explanations of why they felt they could be of benefits in a school setting. It was evident through their smiles, confidence, and openness to use them that they would be a great asset in an educational setting not as an every moment usage, but rather as a tool when needed.
We also came up with some creative new ways to incorporate some science, muscle memory, and handwriting into our literacy and letter reversal lessons.
Every child left being able to recall, and repeat the lesson independently and even more importantly, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, used proven sensory integration through movement and muscle memory, and we believe are more likely to retain what they've learned through engaging and hands on lessons.
Having a variety a ways to learn, the children did so well for the brief times that it was necessary for them to be seated at their work stations. There was nature and calm blended in to each day. We came up with some refreshing approaches on literacy including blending both sensory integration, muscle memory, and engaging science projects such as the light reflaction lesson to address common letter reversals and found that the children were enjoying the lessons so much and seemed to retain what they had learned proving that there is room for growth in education and fresh new approaches.
There were discovery train rides and children were encouraged to explore. A puppet theatre. We're certain they will remember the Growth Pod for years to come.

Products we love and recommend
We believe every elementary school and up should consider these for all children to use. What an amazing tool for any child to utilize. Just a few of these in every library or classroom would be a game changer to assist in childrens' literacy, and help even those who can read well but just need help with some words or perhaps need more time to process what they read, decode it, or have working memory difficulties. They provide language translation, also help those who struggle with audio processing. They are great for note taking and storage for studying as well as offer many impressive features for older children and adults alike. We tried them out with a group of kids and they absolutely loved them. It seemed to encourage them to work new techniques for learning, recalling, and their engagement was very exciting to watch and observe. Their interest to learn and grow was eyes wide and a beautiful sight to witness.

Our "Build them up" initiative focuses on 3 E's-.....What we consider to be some of the most important aspects of childhood development.
Emotional, educational, and enrichments. We aim to embrace a whole child education, and create enriching recreational outlets for children all the while building them up and reminding them to BELIEVE in themselves.
We will be able to provide useful materials for children to grow and learn. This program has provided us the opportunity to offer children's literature free of cost to our local schools, libraries, and various educational facilities as part of the community project as well.
Our goals are to inspire children and encourage them to put their imagination into creating.
Sadly, libraries report downsizing nationwide throughout elementary schools.
We intend to instill the values that they are a priority through wholesome messages that encourage their young spirits and offer and recommend useful messages to all children.

Your interest and willingness to participate, volunteer, teach, be involved, or support the initiative in any way, enables us to grow and continue making a difference in the lives of our youth right here in Baldwin County. We are grateful for what we have been able to be part of (even at this very green stage) of our mission, and we look forward to so much more in the near future.
